”I did not come to Australia to work in hospitality, I am an Engineer!” said a fellow skilled immigrant, who travelled thousands of kilometres from their home country and arrived to Australia to start their career in Engineering.

This is a big problem in Australia: The Australian industry is full of employers who are desperately looking for great talent that can help carrying their business forward.

Ironically the same industry is full of skilled immigrants & qualified individuals who are struggling to find employment relevant to their backgrounds…
3 lessons Australia and the last 3 years have taught me

Today is my 3rd Australiaversary. Since day 1, Australia and immigration has taught me so many things. I started this journey in Adelaide, where I arrived with limited resources, no job, and no friends (I knew absolutely no one in that city). Starting from there, I made great friends and I slowly built up a life.

One of the most important things this journey taught me was that one day if I lose everything I own, I can restart and build a life all over again....

Today I would like to introduce you the self-destructive, time waster job search strategy: "mass applications". This strategy goes as follows:

1. Quicly prepare a resume and cover letter to detail your overseas experience and studies
2. Go to seek.com.au
3. Do > 400 random applications with the same resume and cover letter hoping something magical will happen...
